I’ve been reading up on the Suffolk Punch Mare’s lineage from the medieval Great Horse brought over by William the Conqueror, and it adds such a rich historical layer to using her for farm work. The sturdy build feels exactly like something bred for that purpose.

This mare's build is exactly what you'd expect from a descendant of the medieval Great Horse, with a broad chest and powerful hindquarters that feel solid. I've already used her for light draft work around the property, and she handles the plow with steady, calm determination. The historical connect

She’s every bit the sturdy workhorse the description promises, with that deep Suffolk Punch build that feels like it was made for the fields. I love that her lineage traces back to the medieval Great Horse—it adds a real sense of history to having her around.
