The wolf is thought to be an ice age survivor, dating wolves around 300,000 years ago. The wolf is accepted to be the ancestor of the domestic dog as the wolf is thought to have selectively bred in order to breed appealing traits typical of puppies and to eliminate the not so appealing traits of adult wolves.

Got this hanging above my desk and the detail in the fur makes it feel like the wolf is about to step right out of the frame. Knowing it traces back 300,000 years to the ice age makes it a cool conversation piece, too.

The matte finish on this print gives the ancient wolf an almost charcoal-sketch feel, and the historical note about ice age lineage adds depth. It's already framed and hanging in my den, getting compliments from everyone who sees it.

The illustration really captures the wolf’s ancient, watchful expression—it feels like it could have stepped right out of the Ice Age. I’ve been reading the description about their connection to domestic dogs and find it fascinating.
