Sea lions are often seen in large groups of sea lions. Sea lions hunt in groups and in pairs and group numbers increase during the mating season. There have been instances where sea lionshave been aggressive towards humans in the water. These acts are thought to be because the sea lions either want to play or they are male sea lions displaying and enforcing their dominance within their terrritory.

Charlotte ★★★★★

Watching them pile up in bigger groups as mating season kicks in is the real show—the way the numbers swell feels almost choreographed. The pair-hunting behavior is fascinating to observe up close, and they’re surprisingly active all day long.

The way they coordinate hunting in pairs is fascinating to watch, really shows their intelligence. I've had mine for a week and already caught several instances of the group dynamic changing during what I assume is the mating season.

Joseph ★★★★★

I was surprised at how active the sea lions were even outside of mating season. The group dynamics are fascinating to watch as they hunt in pairs.
